Why do people have collection?

We have heard of stories about people who are fond of collecting stuff which reflects their interests. There were people who collect table napkins, stamps, cars, dolls, and any other things that could give them satisfaction.

Just like other people, I also have my own collections. Since I was in high school, I started to collect Doraemon figures, stickers, cups, clocks, toys and any other objects where Doraemon’s face can be seen. And as a collector, the most common question I always heard was “Why do you have to spend money over something which you can’t use?”

Usually, collectors would just display their collections and seldom use them. Most of them would prefer looking at their collections organized in a shelf. There are some people who can’t understand why they are spending too much money for their collections. But, as a collector, here are some of the reasons that you should know.

1.      1. COLLECTION IS REFLECTION

People collect because they can see their selves on the things they collect. When someone collects cars, it might mean they are fond of riding or repairing car parts. Through collecting a mini version of their hobby and interest, the can wear a smile just by looking at it. Collectors would often say “this is so me”.

2. COLLECTION BRINGS SATISFACTION

Though collecting stuff is quite expensive, collectors still pursue because of the contentment that they can get. After buying a piece of his or her collection, there is a feeling of fulfillment on the part of the collector. They feel lighter and satisfied for they have seems accomplished something worthwhile.

3. COLLECTION TELLS A STORY

Every collector has their own story. Some were inspired of what they have encountered in the past or may want to encounter in the future. Each of their collections has a story to tell. There might be a significant part of their lives that motivate them to begin collecting things which their beautiful stories are attached to.

4. COLLECTION MEANS LESSON

Collecting things taught one important lesson in life. One day, you will meet someone or have something that will make you feel complete. Things that sometimes aren’t easy to have but motivation and determination helps you to grab for it with two hands.  You will take all possible ways in order to get what you want.

Collecting stuff is not that easy. One should have the pure interest on the things they chose to collect. There’s nothing wrong with collecting things regardless of how much it cost. What’s wrong is to put other people in risk and uncomfortable situation just to have what you desire. Learn how to fulfill your wishes through your own hardwork.
