Let The Devil Out

A number of big names in the superhero industry have made it to the big screens since the dawn of the new millennium. And because the demand for more comic-based fictions went sky-high since the creation of the biggest entertainment conglomerate yet, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, small screens also decided to be part of this empire. A couple of superhero series (from another company) have been airing in various networks for a year now, there’s also Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Marvel’s Agent Carter on ABC and just last year, news of another MCU-based series will air on Netflix for 2015 flared the internet. MCU fans were hyped, of course, because we’ll share another adventure with the lawyer-by-day superhero, from Hell’s Kitchen, Matt Murdock aka Daredevil!
The official opening visual that we'll be seeing on Marvel's Daredevil for its upcoming episodes.
Marvel’s Daredevil, or just Daredevil per se kicked off with its pilot episode on Netflix last Friday. This American superhero crime drama television series is the first in a series of shows that will lead up to Defenders crossover miniseries with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. But let’s not worry about that yet for we are here to discuss about Daredevil’s pilot episode.

Of course, the pilot show consisted of the prime details the audience should know if they don’t want to get lost in the next episodes including the origin story, the main characters, and a mysterious hint about the villain who will be the catalyst for the turning point later on.
The accident that took young Matt Murdock's sight.
All superheroes have their own origin stories. The pilot episode started with Daredevil’s short summary of his own life as an everyday person– an encounter, or should I say an accident, which made him go blind but also heightened his other senses particularly his hearing. We got to know the main characters of the series, with Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, Elden Henson who plays as his loyal legal partner Foggy Nelson, and Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page. We also had a glimpse of Murdock’s all-black ensemble for his crime-fighting alter ego.

Here’s what I really love about the kicker episode, ‘Into the Ring’. For this episode, Daredevil shows this awesome flair by not letting every any obstacle or troublemaker step over him during an encounter. He’s human, yes, but he’s a ruthless fighter as well. You can’t deny he’s got bumps and lumps from time to time and it really gets to me in a more positive light that his heightened senses are not deemed as superhero powers. There’s none of those cheeseball sonar, bat-like resonance vision that some ancient superheroes may have ten or twenty years ago whenever he puts up a fight. It’s definitely amazing how he’s so good with detecting split-second movements through air tunnels and sound waves, something we’d kill to have if we’ve got superpowers, I’m sure.
Daredevil's all black ensemble.
Daredevil fighting off an enemy. Yay!
The episode concluded with a cliffhanging dramatic montage that reeks of mystery for what’s in store for the upcoming episodes of the series. Clips of Murdock working out at the gym with utter strength and perseverance and scenarios that may play a big part in the chaos that will attack Hell’s Kitchen in the coming days was shown complete with a dramatic score, an element that hyped the fans to a higher level.

Here's some screen shots of things we'll look forward for the next episodes of Marvel's Daredevil:
